SUFFRAGETTE CITY    (2016-)

Audrey Lys specialised in selfportrait at age 17. This practice was a way of finding her identity, owning her body and assuming the different aspects of herself. Just like Cindy Sherman, she enjoys shooting alone in her apartment, assuming multiple roles as photographer, model, make-up artist, hairstylist and wardrobe mistress. Through the years, she decided to devote herself to soft lights and romance, mixing all up with an historical touch.
She also aims to portray her gender as performative, proposing then her own interpretation of Judith Butler's theories, and uses her body as a political instrument, inspired by the second-wave feminists artists.
